Here starts the competition :)

I have always been the kind of person who postpones things infinitely and then tends to do them in the most unexpected timings. So for the last week I have been thinking that I will take the flight from Amman to Madrid alone , so I was wondering what book will be in my company. I did not really look through my stuffed library , what came to my mind is a book I had that has a very dear story. The book is "East of Eden" written by John Steinbeck , I received this book 4 years ago from an online friend whom I have not met untill today, he heard I wanted to read it so he sent it to me with a very sweet letter all the way from Indianapolis to Amman.

Yesterday we came back from Irbid at 4 oclock in the morning, after we prayed Al-Fajer and everyone went to bed. I was dead tierd but as I layed down the question aroused in my head: where is East of Eden? I got up and looked .. and kept looking for 2 straight hours ,,,, I put down more than 2 hundred books to find it ... I found old papers , old novels , books that I bought and did not read and as I kept digging I found other books that I might read in the flight ... when I went back to bed I looked up and the book was RIGHT THERE infront of me on the second shelf. Anyway it was a good dig because I came up with the canidates , and they are :

Diwan eben Zaydoon ... Eben Zaydoon is a very wonderful andalusi poet who described the andalusi era throughout his poems to his love Wallada bent Elmostakfi who was also a wonderful poet .. Ilove this conversation between him and her , she says:

أخافُ عليكَ من عيني و مِنّي و منكَ و من زمانكَ و المكانِ

و لو أنّي خبّأتكَ في عيوني إلى يوم القيامةِ ما كفاني

In his reply Ibn Zaydoon says:

يا من غدوتُ به في الناس مشتهرا ً قلبي عليك يقاسي الهمّ و الفِكَرا

إن غبتَ لمْ ألقَ إنساناً يؤنّسني و إن حضرتَ فكلُّ الناسِ قد حضرا

Just wonderful (Sorrey: untranslatable)

A book written by the turkish scholar Harun ya7ia About the Evaluation theory .. I borrowed it like a year ago from a friend , never read it never gave it back to his owner!!!

A classical wonderful greek novel by Nikos Kazentzaki ... read it halfway once but got busy with writing and never came back to it.

Daghistan Baladi by Rasool Hamzatov ... tells the story and history of Daghistan and the area of Caucas ,,, read it half way once then got busy with reading Circassian history and methology and never came back to it.

This book makes me mad everytime I try to read it .. it tells me how illmannered I am ... I confess : I am ugly sometimes when dealing with others , and if i finish to the nesxt end if the book a sure am goin gto learn something.

East of Eden.. my english sucked at that time and going back and forth in the dictionary spoiled the novel experince for me .. i tried the first chapter today and I was very good ... only few words :)

A spanish book written by an amercan historican called Washington Irving who used to live in Alhambra and write about muslims , arabs and Andalus.
I will think ... rethink ... consider and reconsider then I will pick one to be in my handbag for one tiny flight for a plane: one big step for my sense of humanity :)
